Beyond realism and detail, I try to capture and celebrate the essence of plants and natural objects; the exuberance of a freshly opened lily, the plump furriness of a kiwi, or the oddly human curves of a bell pepper. I work in graphite, colored pencil, and watercolor on paper. Based in Seattle, I belong to the Pacific Northwest Botanical Artists.
I am the editor of the UW Memory and Brain Wellness Center's Dimensions magazine, and co-lead the Garden Discovery Walk programs for people living with memory loss. Find more at: www.depts.washington.edu/mbwc
